Origin: Austronesian borrowing, likely reflecting compound of reflexes of PMP *kahiw 'tree, wood’ (ACD) plus PCMP *koli '|sc{Borassus sundaicus}' (Verheijen 1984:47). The initial part of the form is unusual and may indicate the borrowing is from Kisar |fn{au} 'tree, wood'.
